SATHVIK VIVEK - PRESIDENT Sathvik is a sophomore at Mission San Jose High School. He has been training in Bharathanatyam since the age of five. He is one of the lead dancers for Natya Ninada Performing Arts Foundation and has performed in over 25 events thus far. In 2013, he earned the opportunity to perform alongside professional artists from India at the Alameda County Library and at the Smithwick Theater, Los Altos. Sathvik has been learning the viola for the past 5 years and is part of the MSJ Orchestra. He was part of the orchestra team that toured and performed in Europe in 2015. Sathvik’s has also been training on the piano for the last 8 years. In addition to the arts, Sathvik has been actively participating in competitive business and entrepreneur club DECA. He won second place at the Annual Silicon Valley conference in the last two consecutive years. In both years, he went on to be placed in the top 8 in the California State level stage of the competition. Including business, Sathvik is also interested in politics and was the NTL captain for the MSJ Ro Khanna campaign team in the 2016 District 17 Congressional election. In his free time, Sathvik enjoys playing basketball and bicycling. He is the co-president of the Cycling Club at Mission. He has also participated in the 50K bicycling event for the Canary foundation to raise money to support early cancer detection research.
JANANI SEKAR - VICE PRESIDENT
Janani is a freshman at James Logan High School. She is very interested in fine arts. Janani has been learning Indian Classical(carnatic) music since she was four years old and continues advanced lessons. Over the years, Janani has had the priviledge of learning and interacting with many talented and accomplished musicians. She performs short concerts in the bay area for various charity fundraisers and cultural events and has won prizes in both individual and group competitions. Janani has an eye for artistic detail. She is interested in the visual arts and takes pride in her drawing and painting. Janani has won prizes almost every year in the visual arts category of her school's PTA reflections program. Over the past few years, Janani has been practicing martial arts and is currently working towards her red belt in kung fu. Janani is on her high school's speech and debate team. Janani also has a very keen aptitude in Mathematics and was selected in the Advanced Talent Development Program in UC Berkeley in 2015. She was a finalist in the National Math Kangroo contest, participated in Mathcounts contest, and was on the honor roll for the AMC 8 - another national level math contest. In her free time, Janani enjoys reading, playing volleyball, crafts, and spending time with her friends and family.
POOJA SHAH- TREASURER
Pooja Shah is a freshman at Mission San Jose High School. She has been training with the violin for the last 11 years. In 2014, she was accepted into the GWYOA county orchestra in New York and performed in the Avery Fischer Hall. She was also accepted into the Sewanee Summer Music Festival, a summer camp in Tennessee, where she played and practiced alongside, many talented musicians from around the world. Pooja has been learning the piano for the last 6 years. She has been learning to sing Hindustani classical music since she was five. She performed many times for the Chhandayan organization ( a non-profit organization which helps spread Indian music throughout the world). She plays junior varsity basketball at her school and competed in other leagues. She also plays tennis and hopes to pursue it further. During her free time she likes to read, draw, and spend time with friends and family.
